Odda Technology, in collaboration with the cluster partners TechnipFMC, Statkraft, Tizir Titanium & Iron and Fluorsid Noralf, will establish an interdisciplinary consortium for the development of the industrial projects under the umbrella “Hardanger Hydrogen Hub”.
With us in this work are the local players Hardanger Industri, Næringshagen in Ullensvang and Kongsberg Klyngen, the latter supported by Viken County Municipality.
Together, we will establish a consortium with central value chain partners to strengthen expertise in green production, with a focus on better utilization of hydropower, qualification of underwater H2 storage, replacing fossil process media with renewable ones and taking care of excess energy for use in new production.
The preliminary project will initially ensure a strong organization, as well as good anchoring in the industry and with those responsible for framework conditions.
The project will also anchor interdisciplinary issues and requirements specifications that will be taken further into a main project.
The aim is also to motivate the Norwegian and the international supplier industry to help develop new supply chains for H2 products based on the different system needs in the sub-projects, many of which will be based on expertise and experience from the oil and gas industry, especially within subsea.
We are very happy that we have received funds to build a consortium for further development of the projects under the collective name “Hardanger Hydrogen Hub”. This shows that the counties of Vestland and Viken are aware of their industrial history and are closely involved in taking it forward within exciting new technology segments.
Hydrogen is an important part of the green transition and is a central storage medium for taking care of surplus energy from all types of energy sources, in small or large plants.
This forms the basis for producing the energy carrier at a low cost and can create new value chains that will eventually become central to the further development of a more sustainable society, where many fossil energy sources can be replaced by renewable surplus energy.
